What do hurricanes, polar bears and the ski slopes of the
Swiss Alps all have in common?

Here is a Hint!
 Hurricanes are occurring more frequently,

polar bears may soon be on the endangered list,

and skiing down the slopes may be a forgotten pastime in 100 years?

Many scientists believe that phenomenon like these may be linked to a climate change called "global warming".  Some scientists do not agree.  Many environmentalists are concerned about the effects of global warming on our planet.   Politicians are skirting around the issue, and large corporations are turning a blind eye and ignoring the situation.

To combat global warming, many world leaders met in Japan in 1997, to discuss the issue and to find a possible solution to the problem.  The "Kyoto Accord" was created.  Unfortunately, it has become a very controversial accord and some key players are not in agreement.

It is now your turn to step in!  You will take on the role of a scientist, an environmentalist, a politician, a business owner of a large corporation, or a concerned citizen.  It will be your job to investigate the issue of global warming and the Kyoto Accord.  In the end, you will report back to the citizens of your nation with information you uncovered about global warming, and inform them of the decision you have arrived at in regards to the Kyoto Accord.  In your opinion, is it a fair and justifiable agreement?  Is it an accord which your nation should adopt or reject?

Good Luck!
The citizens of your nation and our planet Earth are counting on you!
