Membership/Newsletter:

Thanks to all who worked at the workday on August 15th. The kitchen stove area was cleaned and the new stoves installed. The archery practice range has 5 of the 8 stands in place. Thanks to Bob Thompson for completing the installation of our new furnaces. The new parking area on the lane is in and intended for the use of those hunting, training dogs or hiking. Please do not park in front of the gate on the south side of the lane or on the lane itself. Other jobs that need to be done=2 0include: guard rails in front of the clubhouse and at the bridge need replaced, slab lumber needs to be cut, brush on archery range needs removed, trees behind the old garage need to be cut (firewood is yours). If you are willing to see that any of this work is completed, please phone a trustee for further information and how to get credit for the hours.



NEW FEATURE OF WEBPAGE

Cliff Maslovsky, our web page chairman, has set up a group website for all of you who are interested in sharing/discussing information on gun legislation, etc. You can share photos, files, polls, calendars, etc. You can contact Cliff at [email protected] . Turkey Shoots – Kevin Tisher

Turkey Shoots will begin September 13, 9:30 AM. Call Kevin or Dave Cheliras for more information. Help will be needed. If you are interested in running a concession in the kitchen call Kevin or Dave.



Ladies Firearms Classes - Shirley Williams

Reunion will be September 19th.



Youth Sportfest Camp – Larry Beardsley

Annual NRA Youth Sportfest will be held 9 AM, Saturday, September 26, sponsored by Trumbull County 4-H Shooting Sports Pioneers. Help will be needed in all areas. This is a safety course for any youth, 9 to 18 years old, providing hands on experience under the supervision of certified instructors, in basic gun and archery safety. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 19th . Call Larry for further details or questions.



Junior Rifle - Russ Evans

All girls and boys between 12 and 17 are invited to participate in a 1 0 week course on safe gun handling and position rifle shooting. Classes will be held at the club, sponsored by the Cougars and all instructors are NRA certified. The first meeting will be Monday, September 14 ending November 14, 6PM. All equipment is provided. Cost is $10 initial fee and $6 each meeting thereafter. An adult sponsor is needed for first meeting. Those doing well and interested may be invited to join the Cougars who have ranked nationally in the top 10% and been state champions for the last 10 years. Call Russ for further details. The Cougars are selling tickets for five .22 cal. single shot target rifles. These rifles have been used in training for junior shooters. Three are Kimber Government Models with iron sights and two are H&R Model M12 with Redfield Olympic sights. Twenty five tickets ($20 each) will be sold for each rifle. Drawing will be held at the first club meeting after all tickets have been sold. Odds to win are 1 in 25. There are only 3 tickets left.



Building Cleaning – Bill Dickey

Need people to clean clubhouse the last two weeks in Sept., Nov. and Dec. Sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board or call Bill. Great way to get your hours.



Chicken Dinner – October 24 – Jim Bell

Help is needed in all areas (kitchen, dining room, spit) to make this project a success. If you are available please give Jim a call early. A work party will be held on Oct. 3rd at 2 PM to cut wood for the spit. Chain saws will be needed. Advance ticket sales ($8.50) are needed. Carry out will be available.



  • TRAP
  • The trap field is in use every Sunday and Wednesday beginning at 9 AM. We need scorers and help loading the trap houses plus help in other areas. If you can work, please call Tom or Jim Schill. Trap fields have been refurbished.



    Vote!!! Yes on Issue #2. Stop PETA and HSUS attempts to further restrict poultry and egg raisers. The farmers helped dove hunters a few years ago. Now it is our turn to help them. Vote Yes on issue #2.



    Rifle Sight-In Day – Gary Hyde

    The Trumbull County Sportsmen’s Federation will be sponsoring a shotgun sight-in day November 21st at the individual clubs. For more information call Gary.



    Hunter Safety – George Marsh

    Hunter Safety course will be taught by certified instructors Nov. 6, 6-10 PM and Nov. 8, 8:30 AM to 3 PM. You must attend both sessions. Call George for more details.
