The NSW Fire Brigades are responsible for responding to Fire, Hazmat (hazardous material), and Rescue incidents within the State of New South Wales, Australia. The NSW Fire Brigades, Coffs Harbour are also responsible for responding to these types of incidents. The Firefighters of this Station are highly trained in Firefighting, Hazmat and are accredited secondary Rescue, with the State Emergency Service (SES) being primary Rescue response in the Coffs Harbour area. |

FIRES |

|
The NSW Fire Brigades, Coffs Harbour are responsible for responding to all forms of fires within the Coffs Harbour City area. This includes grass and car fires, all forms of structure fires, (houses and factories etc), gas and chemical fires and any boat fires within harbour.
The Brigade is fully equipped and highly trained in fighting all forms of fires. They carry breathing apparatus on both fire engines, as well as a ventilating fan, chemical suits and much more. All of this equipment helps the Firefighters of 257 Station, Coffs Harbour, to combat all forms of fires. |

HAZMAT
(Hazardous materials) |
|
|
|
The NSW Fire Brigades are the sole combat agency for Hazardous Materials response within the State of New South Wales, Australia.
For this role the NSW Fire Brigades, Coffs Harbour, carry all forms of specialised equipment. Fully encapulated chemical suits are carried on both fire engines to protect the Firefighters from potentially fatal chemicals which may be encounted. Breathing apparatus is also carried on both fire engines.
The Coffs Harbour Brigade also has a Hazmat trailer, with carries many items such as floating booms (to contain spills on water), a boat and motor, a skimmer (to recover spills on water), Hazmat recovery bins, as well as other equipment.
As Coffs Harbour has the Pacific Highway, (the main Highway for the coast), passing through it, there are many tonnes of freight passing though the City each day. This freight includes many loads of Hazardous Materials passing throught the City on a daily basis. |

RESCUE |
|
|
|
A large percentage of the NSW Fire Brigades, of which are approximatley 320 Fire Stations, are accredited rescue. This includes the Coffs Harbour Brigade, being accredited Secondary response rescue. Within the Shire of Coffs Harbour, the State Emergency Service (SES), is primary response rescue, with the NSW Fire Brigades supporting the SES and any other service when and where required.
The NSW Fire Brigades, Coffs Harbour, are trained and equipped to respond to all forms of rescue incidents, including motor vehicle accidents, domestic and industrial rescue incidents.
We carry all forms of rescue equipment including large hydraulic shears and spreaders, hydraulic rams, air operated tools, a finger kit and much more, all to assist the Firefighters in performing rescue operations. |

OTHER SERVICES |

|
Apart from Fire, Hazmat and Rescue responsibilities, the NSW Fire Brigades also assists during other forms of emergencies. These may include floods, building collapse and earthquakes etc. The NSW Fire Brigades are ready to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to any form of emergency for the protection of life, property and the environment |
