Microsoft offers Visual Studio Express2005/2008 and SQL Server 2005/2008 Express free of charge. There are third party Web servers that can run ASP.NET in the absence of IIS that work on XP home. Also, Visual Studio Express offers a light weight web server for localhost testing.
The purpose of the training is to get “hands on” experience of ASP.NET in just a few short hours with freely available from software from Microsoft.
This course is not designed to be programming intensive and more focused on the ASP.NET environment. C# will mostly be used with some VB examples. A suggested training format is offered. However, specific needs can be looked at.

We'll also learn how to get the most of an MS Access or SQLite database. A great way to get started when the database configuration is not ready. May also use Web Matrix, Cassini or Abyss Web Server: Ideal for XP or Vista Home or when IIS desktop set up is not allowed. Note: Microsoft's 2007 and 2008 software bundles will not work on Windows 2000. If You have Vista or XP, we can assist with a VS 2008 express install. We recommend that you use the 2005 bundles given there are more Windows 2000 than Vista environments in the corporate, academic and public sectors.
Requirements:
Windows XP SP2 or Vista SP1 for the latest versions of ASP.NET 3.x), Visual Studio Express 2008 and SQL Server Express 2008. Administrator access to the PC is required
Windows 2000 SP4 or XP SP1: ASP.NET 2.x, Visual Studio Express 2005 and SQL Server Express 2005, 2000 (MSDE). Administrator access to the PC is required for installation, but is not rquired to run most programs.
ASP.NET and Visual Studio will work on XP and Vista home versions.
