The Harold Redd Memorial
CRUISE to ALASKA!

June 2004

Three years ago at our last family reunion Mom & Dad announced
they would like to take their "14 children" (7 daughters and 7 sons-in-law)
on a cruise to Alaska for their 55th wedding anniversary. We were thrilled!
Although Dad passed away just four and a half months before
the trip, we are convinced he was there for at least part of the time.
We know he wouldn't be able to stand NOT being there!

The 15 of us. Left to right in the usual order:
Susan & Blair Davis, Karen & David Barker, Patty & Clint Kennington,
Linda & Craig Robinson, Mom, Sarah & Ron Pimentel,
Laurel & Michael Feddock, Jennifer & Peter Kurt.

The beginning of our story starts with Michael's sister
JulieAnn coming over for a slumber party the night before.
She thought she was about to go to sleep on the couch but
the little Bubster climbed in with her with a book.

Early Sunday morning we (Laurel & Michael) flew to
Seattle, just like the rest of the family.

Michael's former workmate, Janice and her husband Abbas,
picked us up from the airport and took us out to breakfast.
It wasn't easy finding a place without a long line, being
Father's Day. We had our Father's Day last Sunday.

We caught a glimpse of our ship, the Sapphire Princess,
as we drove through town seeing the sights.
The Sapphire is a brand new ship. This would
be her second voyage.

We saw all kinds of beautiful places,
including Seattle Center where the Space Needle is.

Then, we got in an hour-long line to check in.

The first thing we did after searching out and finding a few
Redd relations was to have our muster drill where
you practice going to your emergency station
with life jacket in hand.

We came to the Princess Theater with our life jackets
for further instruction. (Can anyone spot Ron?)

Mom being assisted by one of the friendly, helpful staff.

Then the fun began! We found Blair and Susan.

Patty spoiled people right away with her
fabulous back rubs. Yumma!

We found Clint, Patty, and Mom,

Karen and David,

Jennifer and Peter,

Sarah and Ron,

and Craig and Linda.
All present and accounted for!

The ship has jets on the sides so we can take off sideways.

Our first dinner. I would call dinner time the highlight of each day.
I knew that at 6 o'clock each evening we would all be together.
That was Mom's one request, that we all had dinner together.
No one complained! The waiters probably wondered how
there could be so much laughing at a table with no
alcohol on it!

We strolled around the deck after dinner and boy was it windy,
and I mean WINDY! We took a picture of ourselves in a window.
