| 1. What is the difference between a GIF and a JPEG? A gif is for line art or images with similar colors. It supports a 8-bit with 256 colors or less. It is a lossless compression. A gif can be saved as a transparency or animation. A jpeg is a 24-bit 16.7 million color file. It is used for photographic images and uses lossy compression. 2. Why is it important to compress (for JPEG) or reduce color (for GIF) prior to saveing the final image? It makes your files smaller for faster loading in a browser. 3. What is the difference between the push and the smudge settings in your retouch tool? Smudge smears together all colors it picks up. Push moves only one color at a time. 4. What is antialiasing? Antialiasing makes the edge pixels of your selections semi-transparent for smoother looking edges. It is usefull for combining images and for text. 5. Why is it a good idea to save your work periodically? Its a good idea to save periodically incase your puter freeze up, does a illigal operation or any other of those grrrrr!!!@@##!!! functions that puters are famous for. If you save often then you only have to start over from your last save and not from scratch. |
