| Lock of the Week: Record 8-1 The Saints (-4.5) @ Carolina The Lock of the Week apparently isn't easy on the team I'm selecting each week. The Birds had their hands full with Da Bears last week, but did pull off the win. This week a well-rested Saints team travels into Carolina to take on the toothless Panthers. However, as my track record shows, this game could be a lot closer than anticipated - proceed with caution! Upset of the Week: Record (4-5) The Lions (+10) @ Lambeau After a great start in this area of my predictions I've come to earth hard. My fish let me down in Green Bay last week and as a result my record is sub .500 for the first time all year. Detroit won't give me the same heartbreak though. They will go into Green Bay and take down the giant that is the Packers. A short week of practice, a one-legged quarterback, yadda, yadda, yadda. Maybe I'm reaching a little here. Tip of the Week: The St. Louis Rams are still champions Don't be surprised when the Rams are on top of the world heading into the playoffs. They won't win their division but they will earn a berth with 10 wins. Nobody will want to face the Rams in the first round - especially coming in on a 9-1 streak! Game to Stay Away From: Seattle @ Arizona Which teams will show up for this affair? The Seahawks that are capable of running up a lot of yards on the ground or the Seahawks that have shown up for Mike Holmgren more often than not? What about the Cards? Are they pretenders or contenders? Of course this is a divisional match-up so we should expect the best from each team. Which should almost make this game worth watching. Player(s) to Watch: Donovan McNabb, QB, Philadelphia Eagles He struggled last week against Da Bears. This week comparisons will be made between him and his counterpart, Peyton Manning. Which is the better QB? Which is the better first round pick? If you could build your team around one young QB, who would it be? Donovan has an advantage this weekend - he'll be facing the Indianapolis defense! Brian Griese, QB, Denver Broncos A bigtime Monday Night brawl with visiting Oakland. The Raiduhs have fallen on hard times of late and Brian will pile it on more this weekend. All of the receivers will be at the top of their game and Clinton Portis will be given every opportunity to shine for the first time on Monday Night. Deuce McAllister, RB, New Orleans A well-deserved week off - two weeks in a row. A bye followed by the Panthers. Expect the Saints to try to take advantage of the aggressiveness that is the Panthers defense. Draws and screen passes will be the order of the day and McAllister will be the benefactor. Shaun Alexander, RB, Seattle The Cards defense has been exposed and the defense it was last year. Run right at these guys and you will win. Since the Seahawks don't have any other options in their backfield, not that they need one, Alexander will be used in heavy doses. It should result in lots of yards and two potential TDs. Terrell Owens, WR, San Francisco Ready to take on the Swiss Chiefs defense. The Chiefs give up lots of points - mainly because they can't stop anybody. Their offense puts up it's share of points, which translates into a track meet. Look for these teams to trade shots all afternoon. Another twelve catch performance is not out of the picture. He should get into the endzone at least once. |
