·        It is an example of the use of feedback - the input sensor is used to adjust the process if it is put of balance.

·        The computer usually controls the supply of raw materials and keeps track of the process.

Impact

·        Lower labour cost - fewer operators and maintenance staff are required.

·        More reliable as it is rarely failed and are easily replaced.

·        There is a library of standard components eg. Various sinks, windows, etc in designing a house.

·        Calculations from the drawings can be done.

·        Able to view the object from different angles.

Impact

1.      It allows image manipulation; that is scaling, rotation, cropping, changing colour and its brightness.

2.      Calculations from the drawings can be done, example calculation of area.

3.      It allows 3D-view.

4.      Library of components of the drawing are available.

5.      The drawings are more accurate.

6.      Cheaper than building and modifying a real model.
