| The Falcons again succumbed to a rampant Kats side watching their finals hopes slip away in the process. Going into the game knowing a win could see them in the finals, the Falcons had everything to play for. They hit Kats hard in the first quarter with a number of bone-jarring contests thrilling the crowd. Despite breaking even in general play, the Falcons fell behind in the second quarter and eventually lost their way. It was a gallant performane and a fitting close to the season by the red and blues and was only sullied by a final quarter fade-out which caused a blow out. | The loss eventually turned out to be unimportant with both Wickham and Port Hedland winning and locking the Falcons out of the finals race anyway. However, the performance was by far the best put up against the Kats and will provide the club with plenty of confidence going into 2002. Meanwhile the Reserves side marched on into the finals after finishing half a game clear at the top of the ladder. |
