May the
Goddess awaken within each of you
in your journeys through life and the web.
This page is
filled with Maxfield Parrish pictures
which to me represent the beauty, excellence, and oneness
between the goddess within/without and nature.

Morning
The Goddess is the universal mother.
She is the source of fertility, endless wisdom and loving caresses.
As the Wicca know Her, She is often of three aspects: the Maiden, the Mother and the
Crone,
symbolized in the waxing full and waning of the Moon. She is at once the unploughed field,
the full harvest and the dormant, frost-covered Earth. She gives birth to abundance.
But as life is Her gift, She lends it with the promise of death. This is not darkness and
oblivion, but rest from the toils of physical existence. It is human existence between
incarnations. Since the Goddess is nature, all nature, She is both the Temptress and the
Crone; the tornado and the fresh spring rain; the cradle and the grave. But though She is
possessed of both natures, the Wicca revere Her as the giver of fertility, love and
abundance, though they acknowledge Her darker side
as well. We see Her in the Moon, the soundless, ever-moving sea, and in the green growth
of the first spring. She is the embodiment of fertility and love. The Goddess has been
known as the Queen of Heaven, Mother of the Gods that Made the Gods, the Divine Source,
the Universal Matrix,
the Great Mother, and by countless other titles. Many symbols are used in Wicca to honor
Her,
such as the cauldron, cup, labrys, five-petaled flowers, the mirror, necklace, seashell,
pearl, silver, emerald ... to name a few. As She has dominion over the Earth, sea and
Moon, Her creatures are varied and numerous. A few include the rabbit, the bear, the owl,
the cat, dog,
bat, goose, cow, dolphin, lion, horse, wren, scorpion, spider and bee.
All are sacred to the Goddess. The Goddess has been depicted as a huntress running with
Her hounds; a celestial deity striding across the sky with stardust falling from Her
heels;
the eternal Mother heavy with child; the weaver of our lives and deaths; a Crone
walking by waning moonlight seeking out the weak and forlorn, and as many
other beings. But no matter how we envision Her, She is omnipresent, changeless, eternal.

The Stars
We are all the goddess and
the god! This simply means that we create the world around us.
It recognizes that Energy is a never-ending cycle - no beginning and no end.
We are a part of that Energy, as is all of Life, as are those we call Goddess and God.
We are all of the One! Calling upon the Goddess or God is calling upon that energy
which is
within each of us.

The Lute Player
Just as God represents the
masculine principle in mythic form,
the Goddess represents the feminine principle in mythic form.

Daybreak
In many ancient temple
cultures the women were the Priestesses. They were
known to be the creators of life and therefore seen as God essence sent from
the Heavens to Earth to be holy, and captivating, guardians of the Celestial
secrets. These Goddesses were revered as natural healers and were sought after for
their powers and their gifts. Perhaps this is why, even today, men
are so enchanted and moonstruck by the beauty of women. Especially those
seemingly immortal beauties who have managed to reclaim and embody the
Goddess energy which is every woman's birthright.

Ecstasy
There is a knowing and an understanding that goes beyond words, beyond
images, beyond reason. Deep at your core there are all the secrets of the
Universe. Like the thousand petaled Lotus, the thousand prismed crystal opens to
reveal layer upon layer of wisdom and insight. The answers you seek are inside you,
not in your mind, or your heart, but it resides in your soul. Meditation and silent
walks in Nature will connect you with your deep internal "Well of Knowing". It
is here that your ancestors will speak to you of their world and wisdom. It is here that
you will find the lasting peace of unity with all life.

Reveries
The Great Goddess lives within you as a genetic
memory from ancient
generations of your family line. Memories of awe and reverence for the
natural world. Memories of Earth's cycles and their celebration in ancient
times. Memories of what it means to be truly alive. Do you remember?
Do you want to? Watch the Moon this month as it moves through its cycle.
As you gaze at the Moon, let your mind and your instincts carry you back to
earlier times, times before time, when humans were new. Gaze at the Moon
and remember who you truly are, at your core.
