Author's Description: I felt that Dryden's mermaid (Sylvie) deserved to have her story told in full. So I made it up. I also felt like writing a self-contained love story just for fun, since my main continuation epic has gotten out of hand and become a bit discouraging in its ambition. Besides, Dryden deserved an alternative to moping over Millerna! I don't know how good it really is, but I do know it was a pleasure to write, so it was worthwhile from my point of view at least. Perhaps you'll find it a pleasure to read, in which case I'll be well content.
