To achieve its vision of achieving community
bonding and social cohesion, the Community Development
Councils organise many programmes to promote and
foster interaction and bonding between residents
from all walks of life.
1. Racial Harmony Day Celebrations
The Community Development Councils organise annual
Racial Harmony Day Celebrations in July to promote
awareness and educate residents on the customs,
practices and beliefs of the different ethnic
groups in Singapore. Through these activities,
the Community Development Councils hope to instil
amongst residents the importance of living together
harmoniously despite our diverse backgrounds.
2. District Meetings
The Community Development Councils hold annual
District meetings. Such meetings provide an avenue
for residents to give their feedback, comments,
or even question the management or efficacy of
the Community Development Councils' programmes.
3. Dialogue / Feedback Sessions
The Community Development Councils hold regular
dialogue and feedback sessions with residents.
These dialogues aim to reach out to a wide spectrum
of Singaporeans, particularly the heartlanders
so that their concerns are also being heard.
4. Citizenship Certificate Presentation Ceremonies
The Community Development Councils organise Citizenship
Certificate Presentation Ceremonies for new residents
who have just obtained their Singapore citizenship.
These ceremonies have been decentralised from
the Singapore Immigration and Registration to
the five Community Development Councils to enable
new citizens to identify and familiarise themselves
with the community that they are residing in.
