B I O G R A P H Y
The Goddess came into temporal existence on what is, within the Church, the Highest of Holy Days, Feb 22, 1975. She weighed in at 6-pounds-five-ounces & was promptly dubbed, DREW.
Her parents', John & Jaid Barrymore, were separated at the time, no doubt, due to John's affection for alcohol--he had, already, been arrested on numerous occassions for drunk driving. And so, like many other children of the '70s, DREW spent Her first few days in a single parent home, or, to be exact, a duplex.
She was, of course, a being entirely without fault or flaw, perfect in love & beauty. A radiant child. One whose smile, infectious as it was, prompted Jaid's friends to secretly submit photos of her to theatrical agents.
Soon She landed her first acting role; a commercial for Gainesburgers. Yes, the dog food. Her next role came two & half years later in a made-for-tv movie, Suddenly Love, which She describes as Her "earliest memory of working." She played a boy.
Mean while, (I threw that in for you Steph: [inside joke]) Her mother, becoming stressed, decided it was too much juggling both her career and DREW'S. So, after Suddenly Love, She put an end to DREW'S acting, and concentrated on her own. She was, in her own words, "still a young woman with ambitions of her own."
This, as you might imagine, did not go over well with DREW, and, at the age of 4, She demanded that She be allowed to act. The rest, it could be said, is history, but, no, at this point the story only thickens.
But, alas, the Goddess calls, and I must repair to the alter.
