Abstract

Euclide are demons of theatre. They haunt abandoned (and sometimes not-so abandoned) theatres, operas, and puppet factories. Although not technically demonss, they're considered as such because of their ability to suck the soul from other living beings, essentially turning them into mindless robots, slavesto the Euclides will. Puppets.

As you will learn, theatre and Victorian styled entertainment, especially puppetry, marks a big part of the Euclide customs.

Name

Euclides was one of two Greek puppetmasters that became so popular a statue was build of him outside one of the many theatres. It is unknown why Euclides is the Euclide namesake, but rumor has it his time was when the first Euclides was born.

'Euclide' is the plural form of 'Euclides'

Euclide cannot be named just any old thing. They have set naming rules to abide by. No Euclide may have any American name, whether it be an actualy dubbing or that of an object (Eg. Sally, Ryan, Dustin, Swordheart, Featherbox, Raincloud, etc.) Essentially, no English words. French words are not allowed either, and Euclide are born knowing both languages, and it would be silly to be named after an object.

Spefic Naming Requirements - Unless otherwise stated, these can be anywhere in the name, so long as they are present
Puppet Masters: 'Ku'
Puppeteers: 'Kae'
Puppets/Mationettes: 'Se' or 'Si'
Females: 'Bi' or 'Ib'
Males: 'J'
Artifacts: 'A' connected to any other vowel (eg. Aa, Ae, Ai, Ao, Au, Ay)
Remember to use all name rules that apply to your Euclides when naming them.

Physical

Euclide grow from 3' to 5' at the shoulder, and usually twice that in length. Depending upon the species they can be rather bulky and formidable as well, turning them into very powerful creatures when they decide to use force. They can run up to 40mph, and keep this pace up for a fair amounth of time.

All euclide have minor shapeshifting abilities. They can become semi-anthromorphic, meaning they can switch between bipedal and quadrapedal movement. In their semi-anthro stage they also have hands instead of paws, which allowed them to do things normal wolves/cats/rabbits/etc. wouldn't.

Lifespan

Euclide can live fore a total of 500 years. They don't age much different from humans, mind, they just stop aging after a certain point. It only takes a few years for a baby Euclide to grow to maturity (around twenty, but the bebes acquired through the PMC are around this age anyway). Bodies age until around 70 years, when they resemble middle-aged adults, and then they stop. Females tend to stop aging a few years before this, so they keep their youthful beauty. Euclide are all about charm and poise, afterall.

Currently, the oldest Euclide in The City is Jiaro, who's roughly around 300 years old.

Diet

Euclide are strictly carnivorous, yes even the bunnies. While some may occasionally dabble into a bit of fruit once in a while, their main source of food it meat. Meat and the souls of other living creatures. Many euclide can also survive off of blood alone for two weeks at a time, but this weakens them greatly.

Society

Generally speaking, all Euclide live in theatres. Abandoned ones, working ones, theatres specializing in opera, plays, musical concerts, or, of course, puppet shows. Any will do just fine. Remember this when you adopt a Euclides, they will go off in search of a theatre to live in, and if they can't find one, they'll strangle themselves. Very...strange race, the euclide.

An organized group of euclide is called a Cast. Casts can have anywhere from 3 to 15 members, consisting of any breed or type. Meaning that felines and canines can live in the same Cast.

Casts are usually classified by the theatre they live in. One cast per theatre. If mutiny occurs within a cast, they may break up and both remain in the same building. If this happens, battle, war, and mindgames usually follow. Different casts don't like living with eachother, so they will fight to the death until the others are driven off, forced to join the other cast, or killed.

"Cast of (the) ______ ______" or "______'s ______ Cast" are the naming formats for Euclide groups. English or French words may be used, but no other language (unless using a name). Casts must also be named after the title of a book, play, movie, or poem. For example "Cast of Needful Things" would work, as would "King's Needful Things" (which sounds like the name of a pawn shop >.>). OR the Cast can be named after an already existing theatre (Eg. Cast of the Istiaians). The word 'Theatre' does not need to be included in the Cast's name, even if it is part of the theatre's title, unless using the ______'s _______" format.

Control

Euclide, or at least those of the Puppeteer rank and up, have the ability to take control of other's minds, whether they be lower ranking Euclide, humans, animals, or what. This does not work on Disturblings, or souless Euclide. Prey with strong wills may fight back, but it's almost impossible to shake a Puppet Master off your mind.

Control works as such: The Euclides will extract a peice of the, we'll say Puppet's, soul. This is simply done through the will of one's mind. The Euclides will then store that peice of soul in the back of it's mind, called a "Soul Pocket". This strand will be kept with it forever, unless the Euclides wishes to discard it. Because this strand is still connected to the Puppet, the Euclides can it's actions, feelings, and states (conciousness/sickness/sanity/etc.). When the Euclides wishes to use the Puppet, it merely has to tap into the soul strand and use it.

Script Writers and Marionettes can hold only one soul strand at a time. Puppeteers can hold two. Directors, three. Puppet Masters, five. Puppets are not capable of turning others into puppets, and therefore cannot hold any strands.

Eyes

There are three main differences in Euclides eyes. Blank, which are iris and pupiless, White-Iris, which sport irises and are somewhat rare, and Pupiled, which sport pupils but no irises. It is a very rare thing to see Euclide with both pupils and irises.

These eye differences each have a different meaning, pertaining to what happens to the Euclides after it dies. They are as follows:

Blank: Signifies utter soulessness. Euclide with blank eyes will not be permited an existance after they die, they will merely 'poof', from both the physical and spiritual worlds. Blanks are, more often then not, reborn, turned undead, or reincarnated, as Euclides "souls" are very stubborn.
White-Iris: Euclide with irises are doomed to afterlives in purgatory. They do not appear as 'spirits' or 'ghosts', merely given an existance past death. Or what pitifully resembles and existance. They can be reborn or turned undead, but not reincarnated.
Pupil: Pupils usually occur in Paranoia and Phobia types, and rarely anywhere else. These are cursed to live their afterlives out as ghosts. They are not reincarnated or turned undead, but might be reborn.
