Thirteen months under the Spotlight can get pretty warm. I hope Jaci didn't melt with so much exposure. I'm the first to admit that it's taken me way too long to update this particular page, but life has been busy, I think we all know how that is. So for my all new Artist Spotlight I've picked a really hot performer who has had a long history of music success. Tobymac has only been releasing solo albums for a few years, but almost everybody knows that Toby was one of the three guys who created dc Talk, who left a distinctive fingerprint on Christian music for years to come.
But dc Talk is all but gone and the members have all created their own distinct sound through solo projects. Tobymac has gone the path of full hip-hop and is having great success at it. Both of Toby's albums are full of hard hitting, catchy, and heartfelt lyrics all wrapped up in rythmns that will have you dancing in the streets. Toby is not only an inspired writer when it comes to lyrics he knows his music and manages to create tunes that convey the songs passion in every measure.
For those who have not had an opportunity to listen to Tobymac before, you are missing out. Toby is one of my favorite cd's to rock the car with. His music is a complete party in a can. His cd's keep the beat moving no matter what track you select. Tobys music is high energy yet speaks truth in every song. Virtually anybody who likes hip hop or rap (ex. KJ - 52) will enjoy Tobys style and creative lyrics. Tobys' 2nd remix cd Renovating Diverse City has just recently been released so you should be able to find it widely available. Just remember that Tobymac sounds best loud, so crank it up.
