Greetings. Welcome to my Bio page. This is the page where you learn about me, Kyle. There's probably way more information here then you care to know so I've tried to break it up into sections. You can simply scan the list at the right or scroll through this page and read as much or as little as you wish. Now you won't find EVERYTHING about me here. If you want to know that much you'll have to get to know me in person. I'ved tried to put the most important information at the top and break it down from there.

Current Info

I figured to put current info first since it's the stuff people are generally most interested in. I am a recent graduate of Iowa State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I have been moving around a bit more as of late. I moved to Hutchinson, MN in late August of 2006, and am now residing in Tea, SD. I know it's a funny name and there must be all sorts of fun to poke at it I just have to think of some stuff. They even have Teapot Days here which I'm sure could lead to some sort of jokes. My moving around is due to my job with Sonnek Engineering. I'm still new in my field so I have been traveling around a little

My primary mode of transportation is my Mercury. It swallows the miles and gets me to my destination with the least amoutn of drama possible. I drive quite a bit for work so it's good to have a good road car. I do enjoy biking on my Schwinn too, but that is more of an exercise thing these days.

Faith

Well my faith is at the top of the list because it is most important to me. I'm a Christian, a child of God. I was fortunate, I was raised in a Christian home and I am thankful for that. I grew up in the Assembly of God church and continue to attend A/G to this day. I have managed a church sound system for years as well as played in the worship band on drums or bass guitar at every available opportunity. Drums are a topic for the next section.

What does it mean to be a Christian? It means that I have surrendered all parts of my life to Jesus Christ. There are certain parts that need daily surrendering, but nobody said the Christian walk was about being perfect all the time. Yes I do believe in a God, and yes I do believe in His Son Jesus Christ. I also believe in heaven and hell. I know that without Jesus Christ I would be on my way to eternal separation from God, which is the most hellish thing I can imagine. However, thanks to the saving power of Jesus' blood, I no longer fear death. I have joy that goes beyond my circumstances, beyond my mood, beyond the balance in the checking account. I have peace that passes all understanding. And although it's easy to forget, I'm free!

A special greeting to all my brothers and sisters in Christ who read this, you know who you are. :-) God Bless you and don't grow weary in doing right. If you don't understand what I'm talking about or are struggling with what you believe then visit this site.

Music

Well if you've visited the Music Department then you already know I enjoy music. I guess you could say music is my passion. I listen to music a lot; mostly Christian, but I hear plenty of other stuff at work. My tastes lean toward rock and alternative with a little south-of-the-border mixed in. I only own Christian music and that isn't going to change. As a Christian I can't justify spending my money on artists who don't worship God with their lives and music.

I also play music in my church. I used play drums every Sunday and in our monthly Saturday night worship services. I've been playing drums for somewhere around 16 years now, which almost doesn't seem possible. It's a ton of fun and a good source of stress relief also. I enjoy drumming more then just about anything, it's a deep passion of mine and plan on keeping the beat for at least another 40 years.

I am also teaching myself bass guitar, but I don't have time to do that as much as I'd like. I have played bass a couple times in church for various events, but I have a lot more learning to do. I want to be able to walk up and down the frets like I hear others do. Lord willing I'm going to learn how to play guitar someday also, but one thing at a time as they say.

Background

This section is probably the info that everyone will skip, but perhaps it will encourage someone out there so I'm including it.
I'm only 27 so it's not like I have an extensive background, but I am where I'm at today because of how I was raised. I was born and grew up in Minnesota. No I'm not Norwegian, German and Swede. My parents decided to home school me all the way through high school. My parents were Christian so obviously I was raised in an environment where God was taught often. I consider my home schooling critical in my surviving the high school years. I don't think I missed out on anything by not going to the government schools for senior high and never wanted to go. People always assume that kids who don't go to public school miss out on so much, but I enjoyed my childhood and don't see anything missing in my past that public schooled kids have.

The other major defining aspect of my growing up was growing up in a large family. I am the oldest of 11 children in my family. Suffice to say I have lots of experience taking care of youngsters of all ages. I spent many an evening babysitting my siblings growing up. It prepared me for the future and it kept me out of trouble. I certainly don't claim to know all there is about raising kids, but I do have more experience then the average single 25-year-old male. There are 22 years between my baby sister and me so there is quite a gap there. It doesn't bother me till I consider what that gap will look like when she graduates high school.

I grew up in town, but we moved to the country in 1995 and I was hooked immediately. I love the country life. So much more quiet, relaxed. Yeah there are a lot of issues that make it harder then city life, but you take the good with the bad. I love having more then a city plot to call my own and not having neighbors always watching my backyard.

I guess my upbringing shaped me most significantly in that I share my parent's belief in large families. Does that mean I'll have 11 kids? I don't have a clue, but I'm certainly not going to let my family size be limited by my own selfishness or limited view of how many kids I can handle. God knows that better then I do, so I trust Him to take care of that number.

I am also a strong supporter of home schooling. My kids will be home schooled, no if's and's or but's. I have no love lost for government education and if I ever get a chance will see that federal spending on education is eliminated. Yes I am almost vehement in my distaste for the government schools, so if you want to see my passionate side, mention that we need to increase spending on education. I know nobody will ever vote for me if I say I will get rid of federal spending on education so I guess I don't have to worry about that now will I?

Well that's all there is to read about me for now. Perhaps I'll add more stuff in time if I think it's important, but I'm sure you know plenty about me already. Yes there is stuff I left out, but to know any of that info, then you'd have to know me in person.
:-)
