Jeff Deyo is one of my favorite artists on the scene today. Jeff is a relative newcomer to the music scene, but he's made a big impact, especially in the realm of worship music. His cd's are easily identified by their opening prayers and mini messages that Jeff includes throughout the album. Jeff Deyo was the lead singer and primary songwriter behind the first Sonic Flood album. After the first album the group disbanded and Sonic Flood was picked up by a different Christian artist. Now on the second album bearing his name Jeff's music is spreading and gaining fame throughout the music world. His most recent release, Light, is a continuation of the sound and style he began with Saturate only two years ago. I notice that Jeff's style has been expanding and often matches the feel of the song, even if it does lead to some different sounds. Of course this is something I've loved about Delirious ever since they hit U.S. shores. Jeff is not only writing and performing his songs, he's also producing his albums with the help of one Toby McKeehan, yes that Toby.
Jeff was my August 2003 Artist Spotlight for very good reason and those reasons are evident in Light. His new songs and new styles brought to old songs are tight and make every song enjoyable and can take you immeadiately to a position, at least spiritually, of worship. Those who purchase any of Jeff Deyo's music will not be disappointed. Jeff always has been and continues to be on the cutting edge of sound when it comes to the sound of his music. You will never have to worry about his music sounding old or out of date. All of his songs are good, but I've made the lyrics to his best ones available on the right. I've barely gotten the wrapper off Light, but I'm eagerly awaiting the next cd from Jeff Deyo.
