Since I first put MercyMe under the Spotlight there have been two new cds that have taken the music to a whole new level. Yet despite the changes, MercyMe remains consistent to their God focused songs and haunting vocals. Spoken For and Undone are both great projects that take worship oriented lyrics to a new level with tight guitars and a rocking sound that is distinct to this group. In the past few years MercyMe has become one of my favorite groups for several reasons. As is always the case with me, their simple yet incredible lyrics draw the listener deeper then just a good song. This group has taken these lyrics and wrapped a tight, unique sound around each. The songs range from a full band sound to just Bart Millard (lead singer) and piano. I always enjoy a group that writes a song that matches the feeling and passion of the lyrics, which you will find on any cd from this group.
Undone is the latest cd and shows how the group has grown over the years. Whether you enjoy the lyrics or the catchy guitar licks this cd has it all. I really appreciate how this group has developed from project to project and look forward to future projects soon. As always be sure to watch for more lyrics showing up here soon.
