Empire City has a basic set of rules that all chatters need to abide by. No exceptions will be made. If you have a question regarding a certain rule, don't hesitate to contact a staff member for clarifications.

General Rules:

  1. Abide by IMC's TOS which can be found here. In addition, there will be no harassing, flaming, or stalking of chatters and staff members.

  2. Empire City is a M / 18+ rated room for strong language, mild sexual content, graphic violence, alcohol and drug use, and anything else that kiddies shouldn't be viewing. All content may not and will not go further than that found in an R rated movie. If you feel something may cross the line, feel free to PM or IM a staff member, or just not post it at all. Be respectful, however, if a chatter or staff member asks you to cut down on language, violence, etc. Sexual content may be alluded to, including hints of partial nudity. However, out-right sex will not be tolerated and will result in a warning.

  3. All Out Of Character (OOC) talk needs to be placed in single or double parenthesis, ( ) or (( )).

  4. Do not troll for RP. Take the first step and ask someone to do a scene with you.

  5. While we are firm believers that In Character actions have In Character consequences and death -is- a possible outcome, there will be absolutely no god-moding. While EC does not use states or dice, we -do- use common sense. There will be no calling damage on other people's characters and no death of another player's character without staff approval. Witnessed god-moding will result in a warning.

  6. If you have a complaint against another player, please e-mail a log of the offending conversation or actions to the staff list, which can be found on the staff page listed above. If you have a complaint against a staff member, please contact the hostess or CMDC.

  7. Somewhere in your tag, please make sure to put the approval status of your character in your tag as well. Whether your character is In Progress, Applied, or Approved.

  8. All players are required to post one role-play log per character per month on the appropriate thread on the message board. This is to ensure that all characters are getting the appropriate 'air time'. If you are in a scene with another person or several people, if one person wishes to send in that log, then that counts as the one log per month for all characters involved. At the end of each month, the staff will go over the logs to ensure all characters have been played. If a character hasn't been played, their player will get a warning e-mail. If a character has not been played for three total - not consecutive - months, then the staff reserves the right to take that character away from the player.

  9. Players are allowed only two (2) applications during a seven-day period. Any applications received after after there have already been two sent in will be held until the 7-day period is up. During that time, the player may NOT play that character until it is time for the application to be reviewed.

Picture Rules & Limitations:

  1. Character pictures are to be no larger than 400 x 400.

  2. All character models must be live models or comic images. No anime, furry, etc. pictures will be allowed. Also, pictures from other genres will not be allowed either. Luke Skywalker and Pikachu do not belong here.

  3. For canon characters, players may use either a live model, a comic image, or a mixture of both. Please note on the application or your canon request if you are using a live model (provide their name), a comic image (just put comic image), or both (put both comic image and the model's name).

  4. No pictures including nudity or lingerie. If you have a question about a certain picture be appropriate, please ask staff first as to not be warned in-room.

  5. One picture model per character. Also, one mun per picture model. First come, first get.

  6. No animated pictures.

Game-play Rules:

  1. Again. No god-moding/damage calling. Period. God-moding also includes using OOC information IC.

  2. Again. In Character actions of In Character consequences. No character is immortal, so try not to piss off the wrong character, eh? By submitting a character for EC play, you - the mun, the player - are already consenting that your character may be rightfully killed. However, no character may be killed without the player's permission, and death of a canon must have staff approval.

  3. The above rules includes both canons and originals. However, canons may not be killed without prior staff approval. No character, canon or original, may be resurrected from death without staff approval.

  4. Foul language can be used when it is appropriate for a character. However, staff reserves the right to ask a player to tone down language as we see fit.

  5. Staff reserves the right to retcon any role-play that is deemed inappropriate.

  6. Players are limited to two (2) characters per team, no more. As far as Xavier's goes, players are limited to three total characters - this can either be two students and a staff member/X-Men, or one student and two staff members/X-Men. A player may not have three students or three staff members/X-Men.

Team Bases & Character Homes

  1. Characters are NOT allowed to enter another character's home without that character's mun's permission. Characters entering a base for a team they are not a part of may not to so without that team's storyteller's permission. If no storyteller is available, then contact the hostess or another staff member.

  2. Guests at Xavier's are limited to relatives or close friends, and may only stay overnight for two (2) nights. Anything more and they need to go find a hotel. All visitors MUST sign in at the front of the school. Xavier's keeps an active record of all visitors and guests. Keep in mind that Xavier's is not known to be a mutant haven and is viewed as a private boarding school.

  3. Characters graduate from Xavier's at the time they would a normal high school - upon completion of the 12th grade, roughly around the time they turn 18. They are then given a month to move off campus. Unless a member of the X-Men is also teaching at Xavier's, they must also live off of school grounds.

  4. Originals are more than welcome to join canon teams. Please contact that team's leader for more information. The team's leader has the right to refuse membership for any reason. Originals must be actively recruited, and may not be applied as being already a member of a canon team.

  5. Graduate students of Xavier's have the option of being an X-Men, however, they must be recruited by a current member of the X-Men. If you want your graduate or soon-to-be-graduate to join the X-Men, please contact the X-Men leader.

Rule Breaking:

  1. The player, or mun, will receive a written warning via e-mail or PM that will also be forwarded to the staff list, for future reference.

  2. After three warnings, the mun will be banned from the room for a 24 hour period.

  3. A warning issued after a 24 hour ban will result in a 72 hour ban.

  4. A warning issued after a 72 hour ban will result in a semi-permanent ban for a length of 6 months. The player may appeal, by e-mailing the staff list, no sooner than 3 months after the ban has been issued.

  5. One warning will be deleted from record after a 3 month period of good behavior. Another warning, if applicable, will be deleted after an additional 3 months.
