Indo-Tibet Diary

Yep, that's him, against the backdrop of the mountains... there's a reason why you can't make out his face... j.k.

I have been all over this bad-ass country (India) and am headed for Kashmir on Saturday morning for a week in a place called
Ladakh (predominantly Tibetan Buddhist).  I have a few interview opportunities up there.  I am just getting into the social service/human rights scene and trying to figure out who is who... a daunting task when everyone and their mother in the rest of the world wants a piece out of India (note:  The Indian-Pakistan dispute... Secretary Colin Powell is trying his best to alleviate tensions).

My research in India is going well.  I am doing reserach on Indo-Tibet support groups and the roles they play in influencing the Tibetan policy of the Indian government and the Tibetan government in exile.  In my interviews, I had the great fortune in meeting the president of
SFT at JN University in Delhi.  It is an incredible feeling to see how great a distance an organization and struggle can span.  I have learned quite a bit from my interviews with various politicians, social workers, and Indo-Tibet support group leaders... and I still have much much  more to learn.

The spirit is quite vibrant here and I can't wait to bring back this vibrancy home to us.  I have met the most amazing photographer/journalist who is reputed to have approximately 75,000 pictures on the Tibetan refugees in Inida since 1972, which he has funded all by himself.

I feel that the next phase of our support in Tibetan awareness may be to raise funds and support the activities of other Tibet support groups in Asian countries that need financial resources to conduct demonstrations and activities to convince their local governaments who have been scared bu the threat of China to stand up to the bully and realize the international support of nonviolent struggle for an independent Tibet.
