Dear [Title and Name of Addressee]:

I am expressing my concern for the
Drapchi nuns whose sentences were extended for singing songs while incarcerated at Drapchi Prison in Lhasa.  Reports of ill- treatment have surfaced, which includes rape and violence, bring global attention to China's policies in regards to human rights to the fore-front.

I know, however, that the government of People's Republic of China has continually expressed willingness to improve the treatment of its prisoners.  Recently, you have released Ngawang Choephel, a Tibetan who is now residing in America.  This gesture demonstrated the goodwill of the Chinese government, which we hope to see more of in the future.

As you know, the 2008 Olympics in China is fast approaching.  By releasing information regarding the health conditions of the following nuns or even ending their imprisonment will further demonstrate China's attempt to reform its prison system and policies towards political prisoners.

The following nuns that are believed to still be alive and imprisoned in Drapchi Prison are as follow:
Ngawang Choezom, Gyaltsen Drolkar, Ngawang Sangdrol, Lhundrub Zangmo, Phuntsog Nyidron, Tenzin Thubtem, Ngawang Tsamdrol, Jigme Yangchen, Rigzin Choenyi, Namdrol Lhamo, Ngawang Choekyi, and Ngawang Lochoe.

Thank you for your attention, we hope our appeal receives your utmost consideration.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
