So, you think we have it bad with short-term prison terms and meager fines for timber tresspass and hunting illegally? Its a good thing you didn't live in the 1100s then, because you could have had your hands cut off, or even hung for such offences. Forest Laws are certainly not new, and stretch back to when the first protected forests were created, probably around 3500 B.C.
