Christina's WLS Journal
Welcome to my Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) Journal page.On December 17, 2003 I had Bariatric Surgery performed.  The surgery was a success and I came home on December 18th just 36 hours after I was admitted to Carmel St. Vincent Hospital.  On the following pages you will find details of my journey from the start.

Let me explain a little about what WLS is.  In actuality there are several different types of WLS.  I am not going to bore you with all the details of each kind here.  Let's just say that WLS is when you have surgery to restrict the amount of food you can eat or digest.  WLS is only a tool to help people that are considered morbidly obese (100 lbs. overweight or more)  loose weight.  It is not the easy way out.  In order to have WLS, a lifetime commitment has to be made.

For me the decision to have WLS has not been an easy one.  I have spent quite a bit of time researching the process, both online and by reading several books on the subject.  At the age of 29 and at my highest weight of 276 pounds I made the decision to undergo this life changing and for me life saving surgery.
