The Weight Begins
At the start of High School I was fairly fit all things considered.  I was 5'5" and weighed about 130 pound.  My dancing and other activites had kept my weight down, although my eating habits were abysmal.  The standard joke at the dinner table was that I had a hollow leg, because I would eat just about anything in site.  On top of that if I took too much food at a meal and then didn't finish it because I was full I was chastised slightly.  "Waste Not Want Not"  was my step-fathers favorite line.
For the first two years of high school I continued to stay fairly active even though I had given up my dance classes to persue my singing more thoroughly.  I spent time after school practicing for the school musical and with St. Louis Children's Choir.
At the age of 16 I weighed around 125 pounds due to the amount of time I was spending at school for rehersals.  I had been given the lead in
The King and I. I wore a size 10 quite nicely and felt very comfortable with my body image now that the other girls had caught up.

My Junior year of high school is when things started to get out of control.  My activity level really started to drop, but my eating continued.  I began to eat when I was bored or sad.  I was always looking for the junk food in the house and there always seemed to be plenty.  There wasn't much in the way of fruit or vegetables in the house and that was fine with me.  I did not really like them anyway.
It was at this time that I had my first real boyfriend.  I will honestly say that this didn't seem to help matters any since we fought a lot and I was depressed a lot.  When this happened I turned to my best friend, food.
By the end of my Junior year I was up to about 150 pounds but I really didn't care.  I still thought I looked good.

The problem was that my upward spiral continued to about midway through my senior year when I  finally woke up.  I had hit 175 and I didn't like what I saw when I looked into the mirror.  I started to try and loose weight by eating healthy, but around my house that was a hard thing to do when there was always junk food in the house.  We also had very little eating schedule and dinner was often fast food at about 8:00 pm in the evening.  At the end of my senior year I think I weighed around 165 and wore a tight size 12.
