Vision Simulator

Here's the link for the Vision Simulator

As the instructions are in German, I'll just walk you through it.

  • In the box marked "Sphre" enter the Rx in diopters you'd like to experience. Ignore - and +
  • In the box marked "Astigmatismus" enter the cylinder you'd like to experience. Again, ignore + and -
  • In the box marked "Achse" enter the axis of cylinder you'd like to experience
  • Now click on "Weiter"
  • Next, choose the correction you'd like to see as a comparision from:
Lasik (lasik, obviously!), Intraokularlinse (Intra-Ocular Lenses), Kontaktlinse (Contact Lenses), or Brille (Glasses)
  • "Zielrefraktion" is the correction you aim to achieve for comparison. Leave it at 0 for a better comparison
  • In the drop down box, choose the image you wish to see corrected and uncorrected at your chosen Rx: Sehtafel (European-style eye chart), Verkehrskreuzung (An intersection with a car turning right), Lastwagen (A garbage truck and cyclist coming right at you), or Fachwerkhaus (Half-timbered German house)
  • Now click on "Behandlung Simulieren" to make a new window open, which will show you your uncorrected vision at that Rx, plus a corrected image using your selected form of correction.
  • To try with a different Rx, close the window and click on "Brillenwerte Andern" to go back to the previous page.

I got Luke to test this out with his -5.75 Rx with astigmatism, and he said it's "not bad".
