Service Industries

Service industries account for 61 % of Japan’s gross domestic product and employ 56 % of the country’s workers. Service industries include government agencies, hospitals, schools and other institutions. Financial institutions, such as banks and insurance companies make up another major group of service industries. Advertising agencies, data-processing services, real estate companies, restaurants and many other business establishments also supply essential business, community or personal services. Other service industries include trade, transportation and communication.
