Japan's Mining Industry
Japan has a wide variety of minerals, mostly in quantities too small to satisfy the country’s needs. The chief mining products include coal, copper, lead, limestone, manganese, silver tine and zinc. Many of the minerals required by Japan’s industries must be imported. The country buys nearly all the bauxite, copper, and petroleum it needs from other countries. It also imports most of the coal and iron ore required by its iron and steel industry.
