Sevan Driller Click here to enter Sevan website Sevan Driller to be installed offshore Brazil NANTONG, CHINA: Petrobras has requested that Sevan Driller be installed offshore Brazil for its first drilling program, rather than the Gulf of Mexico as initially agreed. The preliminary drilling schedule expects exploratory wells to be drilled in the Tupi field in the Santos basin pre-salt cluster offshore Brazil. Sevan Driller will be equipped for initial operations in 2,400 meters (7,874 ft) water depth instead of 1,500 meters (4,921 ft) as initially agreed. The start-up date for the drilling program is mid-2009. Construction of Sevan Driller is continuing on schedule at Cosco's Nantong shipyard in China. "AHTS\OSV rates" The market for anchor handlers and PSVs in the North Sea continues to be extremely tight despite a quiet weekend activity wise and vessels continue to be fixed onwards up to a week in advance, said broker Offshore Shipbrokers Ltd (OSL) in its daily newsletter of August 14th. "New record day rates are believed to have been achieved at the end of last week - 110,000 for an AHTS and 40,000 for a PSV," said OSL, noting that, given the current strong demand and vessel utilisation, these rate levels are expected to continue for at least this week.
