| Jacob Anderson born 1779 in Va. Some years later Kentucky of Va. was admitted to the US as the 15th state Called Kentucky. Jacob Anderson( supposedly Scotch) may have come to America as indentured servants . Some records show they landed in Pa. and Va. I have located some of this family in Campbell Co. TN. and Whitley Co. Ky. Campbell Co. has Jacob paying property tax in 1823, in the 9th District. said he came to Campbell Co. 1800 born in Va. Jacob was 60 years old in the 1840 Census by 1860 Jacob must have died ,he was not listed with his family. The story is he went off to Rock Wood and never came back and the story is he must have died along the way, there is no grave for him anyplace. Jacob had five boys and none of them participated in the Civil War. They all stayed near Scott Co. Tenn and Whitley Co.The five boys all lived on Rockcreek. farming was their main income. Isham was a good reader and could write extra well. He may have taught writing to the people. Rockcreek is a lovely place to raise a family. If you look back to 1860-1940 .Rockcreek came alive after the Civil War. Families had to dig out a living out of the soil, families grew and times were hard for everyone. There was no work for the young ,so they traveled west, Texas,Kansas, Indiana and Oklahoma. |
