| Sorry there won't be many pics of my vacation, if any pics on here. My dad didn't let me do a video or photograph diary like I would like to have. | |||||||||||||||
| The Flight: I left on May 28, 2003. I flew Northwest Airlines to Bangkok, with connections in Detroit and Tokyo. The first flight from Orlando was on a brand new 757-200. Nice simple 2 hour flight, to NWA's brand new terminal in Detroit. I encountered one very arrogant flight attendent, could barely speak any english, yet acts like the ruler of the skies. Though in short order, we arrived in Detroit, and stepped into as I said the brand new World Gateway. From the gate we took the indoor tram to our next gate (Gate A40), the trams are the latest in People Mover technology, very fast, efficient, clean, and for me COOL! When we arrived we took our seat at the waited, explored the gigantic terminal (Why would they need a tram to get across otherwise?) and got McDonalds for our lunch. Soon enough though, its time for me to board, on a freshly PAINTED plane, and i say this because the inside looked like a WRECK!!!!!! Even my mom said her seat was tilted sideways, probably from fat guy sitting in it before. My front seat pocket was torn at the sides, and everything else just looks.....dirty! And this is a FOURTEEN AND SOME HOURS FLIGHT!!!!! Thankfully there was shockingly good food, and nice flight attendents. On that flight I got about 2 hours of sleep, it was too noisy, and i was also too excited. But, as one more complaint, the guy infront of me was a NUISANCE! Everytime he streched he went outward instead of up, so he nearly hits me in that face everytime, and whenever I pull out our laptop to listen to music, he always leans back, until the laptop is about to fall off the table. And to add to that, when i need to get something from my backpack he says "Can you be more courteous about knocking my seat around!" My response "Ok, sorry" What should have been my response: A punch into his face! Thankfully the flight ended soon enough, with a spectacular landing into Tokyo/Narita International Airport. At Tokyo we found our selves into the newly refurbished Satellite 2 which NWA moved into, there we found automatic blinds, recliners, HDTVs, a Play Area for kids with Play Stations, and Broadband High Speed Internet Access. Well 3 hours time don't give you too much, so I just used the internet access to send e-mails to all my friends and Mrs. Leisher. And a little checking up on our gates on arrival to Don Muang Inernational Airport, in Bangkok. And once again, we soon boarded the plane, the thing is IT WAS THE SAME ONE, though this time the Japanese Ground Crew did an excellent job and the plane was practically clean, and this time we sat in better seat except my seat back was still torn. The flight was a little long, but its always liek that, can't wait to see family, but your tired, worn out, and high strung. But I slept throughout most of this flight, catching on the missed hours goign to Japan, but I say the best landing in my life, going over Bangkok, a beautiful lighted city, onto the runway. And as soon as i got off, i smelled the sewers from the city miles away and i said, "Smells like Thailand!" From there we went to the house in the Prachacheun area of Bangkok, exchanged thoughts, toured the house again, and went to sleep. From here the schedule was really interesting and exciting, except for a few days. This is how those few days were: first wake up, and play computer games. Then eat breakfast and continue to play computer games. Then get so bored you sweep the entire house, then walk around, and go back and play computer games. In the evening when its cool enough, go and play basketball out side, and watch the ball hit all the plants, then take a shower and eat dinner either outside or prepared by an aunt. Then play more computer games until you get tired and fall asleep. Now to all the other activities I did in Thailand. 1st: after a few days in Thailand, I finally get to see the open market in our neighborhood, which i so longed to see, and i got a vest there, though its in KOREAN! 2nd: a few days after that I went to the famous Chaktuchak Market in Bangkok. And it was GIGANTIC, i got tons of souviners, and saws thousands of items there, I really think its larger than West Oaks Mall,, maybe even Millenia, and its almost all OUTDOORS. Little AC, mostly fans and the hot winds of Thailand, the place also had almost ANYTHING you could think of as well, toys, games, books, electronics, clothes, and FOOD, along with other mis. items as well. 3rd: One of my other boring days, that changed majorly, I took a Skytrain Tour! The Skytrain is Bangkok's elevated light-rail system that is part of the solution to its traffic jam problem along with the new subway set for its grand opening on August 24, 2004 on H.M. Queen Sirikit's Birthday. On this tour, my aunt drove me and my dad the the first station on the Sukhimvit Line, Mo Chit. From there we went to Siam (Pronounced Se-Am), and went to the Siam Center, and took a look around the 4 story mall (this is one of the smallest malls in Bangkok), while my dad told me a history of the place. From there we moved onto Phrom Phong Station and the Emporium, the newest and I think largest mall in Thailand. My dad got something from there, we explored the place, saw this cool BMW scooter, and all the electronic stores, from there we went to the top floor and had dinner. Next, we went all the way down the line to On Nut ( Pronounced On Nuut ), and traversed back to Siam. From there we switched to the Silom Line, and went down to the end of the line, Saphan Taksin ( Translated: Taksin Bridge ) and saw a temple, and the grand Chao Phraya, while my dad told me the history of the 2 sides of Bangkok, which I'll say is a little long. Also on the trip, he showed me all the places he used to go as a teen, which was cool. Then we traversed back to Siam, and then to Mo Chit, where we caught a taxi, and arrrived back home really late, then my aunt took us to dinner, and an electronic mall. The skytrain system is 23 KMs long ( 14.2922 MIs) We traveled over at least 22 KMs ( 13.6708 MIs) of the skytrain system, excluding the return trips for 100 baht or $2.50 USD ( Base currency exchange rate 40 THB = 1 USD or Forty Thai Baht equals One US Dollar. ) each. Our tickets were one day passes good from the Opening at 6AM to Midnight. |
