| 6th: Soon it was time for my mom to come back, so this afternoon, she was coming by bus, and arriving at the northern bus terminal, known as Mo Chit. And as a tradition we were going to stay at a hotel. This time it was Starwood's Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, part of the Luxury Collection. Adjacent to Asoke station, and the Westin Grande Sukhumvit. So, by noon we caught a taxi from my aunt's house, and we took it to the hotel, it took about 45 mins, and it costed about 95 baht, or a little over 2 dollars. After we arrived we checked in and went up to the room, now we had requested a twin bed room, when we arrived we found it had THREE BEDS in it, no extra charge, the bathroom had a shower with a seat, and a seperate bathtub, and the closet was WALK IN, also you had to leave your key card next to the door, otherwise the lights shut off, and to prevent from locking yourself out, cause any dope would see it before they walked out. After admiring the room, and connecting the internet, we left, and went to Amarin Plaza, at Chit Lom station, we took a spectacular walk down the new skybridge to it, and tried to find a thai restaurant, we found the place almost deserted, the supermarket was torn down, and only a few restaurants were left and everyone was on break, so my dad gave up, and we walked down to McDonalds, there i had a Big Mac meal with Pineapple Juice, and my dad had Fried Chicken ( Yes you heard right, fried chicken at McDonalds), and Iced Coffee. From there, we went to the Emporium, at Phrom Phong to take a pic of an Air Supply stand for a friend, which we wern't allowed to, so we walked directly back to the station, and took the skytrain directly to Siam station. There we switched lines, and went down to the Saphan Taksin station, to take a few pics. From there we rushed to Mo Chit station, and took at taxi to the bus station. After about 10 mins of frantic searching, we finally found my mom and little bro, and took a taxi to the skytrain station. There we took it to Asoke station, and our hotel. There, we met one of my uncles as he visited, got some snacks from him, and took the skytrain to Phrom Phong again for dinner, and some grocery shopping, and to show my mom that cool BMW scooter. Soon, we took BTS (Skytrain in other words) back to Asoke, and put everything away, and went to sleep. 7th: Next day me and my brother had room service for breakfast me: eggs Benedict, Ben: A spinach and Ham omelet. My parents had the snacks my uncle had brought us. (They didn't want room service.) From there we just hung around our room, my parents slept, while me and my little bro played with the laptop and watched TV. Then we decided to head out to a place called Central, close to Chit Lom Road. Central, is a chain or malls that cross throughout Asia, with at least 4 locations in Bangkok at Lad Phrao, Chit Lom, Silom, and Bang Na. There we decided to look for sports stuff and swimming goggles for my dad there, and to have lunch. First, we hunted for goggles, but couldn't find any, so we went to have a lunch break at the food court. Now, before I continue I have to explain the Thai system of Food Courts, instead of just walkign to the counter and payer there, in Thailand you have to trade your money for coupons of different denominations, and use that to purchase your food, after that you can exchange any leftover coupons for cash. I'm not really sure why they do this, my dad says it because the owner of the food court that rents the place out, doesn't trust the stall owners, so what he would do is collect the money, then give out the profits after deducting rent, taxes, etc. Much like a person's salary. Though the food court we were about to go to was a whole other thing. It does the same thing, give all money to owner, then owner give to stall owner except in a different way. So as I continue, we went up to the food court on the top floor, and what we find is we have to pick up a card on the way in. What you do is, you approach one of the stalls, and order your food, then you give them your card and they charge it, after eating to your pleasure, you exit, but before you do that you go to a pain cashier, they'll scan your card, and you pay your total amount. And, as well most food courts have only Thai food, but they don't even call this a food court, its called the FoodLoft " The New, Trendy & Upscale International Dining Concept" And it truly has international food, from Dessert to Thai food, and everythignin between, Pizza, Salad, Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese, Italian, and A drink stall all in one area. Also, you don't even have to hassle your way to find a table they have servers there that guide you to a table, and pick up the dirty dishes. Excellent place to eat, the food was great, and the Atmosphere is really modern, they even have a river running through the seating area. And, if your lucky you get a great view of Bangkok, being on the top floor. From there, we got the sports stuff my dad wanted, couldn't find any goggles, some fruits, cough drops, and ...... a new skateboard and gear for me. |
