The TGV or "Train A Grande Vitesse" is a high speed train running throughout Europe. This is the worlds fastest conventional train. It holds the record speed of 320.3 mph.

The Basics: The TGV is an EMU, which means there are many motors spread throughout the train.

There are 9 variations of the TGV in service.

In France: The PSE, Atlantique, Reseau, Thalys, Duplex, La Poste, and the Eurostar.

In South Korea: The KTX (Currently being tested)

In the USA: The Acela, the US's fastest train.

This is the PSE, the first TGV ever built. It first held the speed record with 236mph.

This is the 2nd type of TGV built: The. Atlantique In fact this train right here is the world record holder, since it has the blue stripe down the front.

This is the secret to high speed. You see 2 cars laying on one "bogie" or wheel holder. Most trains have 2 cars on seperate bogies, and makes it weigh more, so that limits speed.

This is the 3rd model, the Reseau, its almost like the Atlantique, but is pressurized, and arranged differently.

This is a 2 story TGV, or Duplex.

This is the 4th model, actually a cousin. The Eurostar, its owned by the British, but travels through France, and Belgium as well.

This is the Thalys, the only difference is that it runs in the Netherlands as well as France, and they have red trains.

This is the KTX, currently the lines are being built for it right now in South Korea.

Ahhhh, the good old USA. This is the Acela, it runs between D.C. and Boston, at around 150mph.

The ICE or Inter City Express is based in Germany, but like the TGVs travel throughout Europe. They once held the speed record, till the TGV Atlantique beat it.

There are 9 models of it.
The ICE: V, 1, 2, S, T, VT, and the 3 models of the ICE 3.

This is the ICE 2. It looks almost like the ICE 1 except for the placements of the vents and logos.

This is an ICE VT. The special thing about this is that its a diesel train, and it tilts around corners, like the Acela.

This is the ICE 3, it runs throughout Europe.

This is an electric ICE VT, this can go faster than the diesel one, and it still tilts around corners making it faster than others.

This is the first ICE, a 4 car train of this model once held the record.
