The green light faded, and Deborah was standing where she had been before, the green leaf before her on the ground. She picked it up and placed it back into the trick box. She unlocked her door and took a quick look around the house. Her mom was still not home.

"Good, that will give me some time to read this book. But first" Deborah went back into her room, locking the door behind her again. Picking up her phone, she dialed Desiree's number. After thanking her for the book, she returned to the desk where she had left the book. She sat down, and flipped open the front cover, and started reading.

A Complete Guide to the Bishen Dragon

Basic Information

Bishel dragons are also commonly know as Bishen dragons. Their exact origins are not know, but it is know that the race of Bishen dragons was spawned from three original Bishel. They grow to be about the size of a dog, sometimes a little larger, and are extremely intelligent. They have the ability to communicate through telepathy. They eat both plants and animals. They gain magical powers when they reach adulthood through a ceremony called the Shantel.

Bishen are born as eggs. A blue egg hold females, green hold males. When they hatch, they all are the same, except for their colors, legless and wingless. At this hatchling stage they are know as wyrms. The next stage is called the shrape. At this stage, the dragons grow into their type, developing wings and/or legs, or developing neither. After shrape, the dragon will grow one more time. Not physically, but magically. They will receive their magical powers through the Shantel, where the eldest dragon, know as the Kailan, will present them with an object of magical powers. After the Shantel, the dragon is a full Bishen.

When a dragon reaches the full grown Bishen stage, he or she can chose to take a mate. After the dragons become mates, they can have a clutch. The clutch will consist of  three to ten eggs. Bondmates of the dragons are allowed one egg each.

The three common colors are blue, red, and green. An occasional mutant color will turn up. Blues enjoy water and air. Their powers focus around physical and mental cleansing. Green dragons enjoy earth and plants. Their powers are that of healing. Reds love fire, and are often warriors. Their magical powers focus on energy and strength.

The know mutant colors are moonstone, ice shard, white, and sunshine. Moonstones have been know to bring good luck. Ice shards rigorously follow codes of honor and moral. Whites are daydreamers and poets, and enjoy solitude. One white dragon is given each year at the Spring Festival. Sunshines are loved by all, and are lightheared and joyfull.

The three normal types are terran, marine, and arboreal. Terran have four legs, no wings, and live in burrows. Marines are long and snake like with no wings or legs, and live near water. Arboreal have two wings, no legs, and live in trees. There are also hybrids between these three types.

History

300 years ago, a war began between the elves and humans. The elves were forced back into the Machesri Clan's land. The Machesri Clan was part of a large group of Bishen living in the land. The Bishen were forced to fight for their homes and lives. A red arboreal named Leukosri gathered those who would come, and set out for a new home. They wandered, it is said, for over 200 years before finally reaching the Creature Refuge, where Indyana took them in and gave them a good home. The new clan has grown and prospered. The clan has grown so much, that now eggs are given out to those who prove themselves worthy.

Deborah closed the book slowly. These dragons were wonderful sounding. Deborah has seen Desiree's Kashi before, and knew that they were just as beautiful as they were amazing. At that moment, Deborah made up her mind. She would make the best home she could, and apply for a dragon from the next clutch.

She crawled under the covers of her bed, and in a few moments, was fast asleep, a smile on her face.
