| The next day, Fae looked up to the sound of foot steps to see Deborah striding towards her, grinning like mad. "My, arn't we in high spirits today." Fae said as Deborah came to a stop in front of her. "Wait a minuet..." Fae said, her eyes narrowing in suspicion. "Why arn't you at school?" "I'm sick today. The truth!" She said a little horsly when Fae opened her mouth to protest. "A touch of the flu, but nothing thats going to keep me in my bed all day! How boring!" She rolled her eyes to empasize. "Anyways, come, we are going on a search." "A search? For a sutiable home? For what kind of dragon?" Deborah turned on Fae, her face painted over in mock disgust. "Fae, do you forget so easily? A Bishen! I spent a good portion of last night reading up on them. I already know why color I want to make a home for. The type I'm not so sure about though..." "Thats great news! Lets get going." Fae and Deborah entered the Forest, Deborah in the lead. They walked for quite some time. Deborah's head turned from side to side, looking for something. With a wordless cry of joy, Deborah sprang deeper into the trees. Fae struggled to keep the girl in site. When she caught up with the girl, they found Deborah inspecting the trees and ground. "What? What is it?" Fae gasped. "This is the place. This is it! The trees are the perfect hight, and the ground is soft enough for digging." Fae looked around at Deborah's chosen spot. The trees, which were normally soared twords the sky, were smaller than normal. Fae could reach out a hand and touch the branches above. The trees were evenly spaced out, leaving enough room to walk around in, but no far enough apart to let much of the sun in. The ground was covered in a soft grass. Small animals peered out of the leaves of the trees and bushes. Birds chirped merrly in their nests. Fae could head the bubbling of a stream not too far away. Many of the bushes held berries on them, and some of the trees held fruit too. The light shining through the trees shifts as the wind rustles the leaves, making the ground look like a dance floor, where the light spots twirled in an endless waltz. Deborah sighed in contentment and leaned against one of the trees. "This place is perfect for a green Bishen. The greens are healers, and I value healing above most magics. There is pleanty of food, plant and animal, for a Bishen to eat. That stream over there will be nice for the dragon to drink and bath in." "What type of dragon do you hope for? Color you've decied. Green right?" "Yes," Deborah said with a nod. "I hope for a green. Of course, I would love any color, really!" She paused, and then looked back to Fae. "As to type, I can't really decied. I would either like a terran, or an aboreal. I like them both so much though!" Thg girl giggled. "Maybe a hybrid between the two!" She giggled again. "I doubt it, they are very rare. But hey, it can't hurt to hope, right? And this home will be perfect for either, or a mix." She winked at Fae. She paused for a moment, as if thinking. "If it is terran, the ground is soft enough for it to dig a nice burrow. If it is aboreal, then the trees will make a nice place to sleep." "Thats a good idea. I guess you can let the elements decided. Alright, now that we have found a nice place, lets go look for a Keeper to watch after the little one while you are at school." Fae turned , getting ready to walk again, but stopped when Deborah rasied a hand. "No. No Keeper." "What?" Fae said spinning back around to face the girl. "But who is going to care for it while you are away?" Deborah shook her head. "No Keeper. I want to care for this one all by myself. There will be plenty of time for me to come here and care for the egg. If the egg comes." As she spoke the last sentence, her face fell, remembering that there was a good chance that someone would be given an egg instead of them. Deborah sighed. Fae reguarded Deborah with amazment. She must have really loved these dragons to want to care for it without the help of a Keeper. "Good thing I brought all the stuff we need to make this home nice!" Deborah said, a little more cheerfully. She reached into some packs that she had on her back. After removing them, she set them on the ground. She turned the packs upside down and let the contents spill out. Deborah had taken lots of little things to make the dragon's home better. On the ground lay dozens of strange white branches and leaves. Deborah gathered up the silverish leaves and branches, moving them over so that they sat under a tree. She aranged and rearanged the leaves untill the created a feather soft nest. "There, thats better. I hope this place will be good enough. If the dragon comes, I shall give it a few toys." Deborah said with a smile when she had finished. The girl looked around the home one more time, then they mounted back up, and rode back to the entrence to the Forest. |
