Charlotte's Web Page

My name is Samantha McCormick. I am in Mr. Ferguson's class. One of the books our group read is called Charlotte's Web Page. It was a really good book. We made a neat web site out of it. I wrote the summary, Shelby and Justin drew pictures, and Ashley made signs for certain things. If you want, read my summary and take a quick quiz on it. It's only 5 questions long. If you get a chance to, you should try to read this book. I know you will like it.

Charlotte's Web Page

In the beginning, Charlotte told us about her family and friends. In her family there is her mom, dad, brother Nat, and of course, Charlotte herself. Her friends are Niaomi, Opu, Brett, Jamie, and Claudie. Together they called themselves "The Gang." They lived in Boston. In school, there was a teacher they really didn't like. His name was Mr. Hopkins. He was the computer lab teacher. They called him Humpty Dumpty Hopkins. Charlotte said she got detention from him all the time. Charlotte didn't like computers.

It was getting close to Charlotte's birthday and her mother said there was a surprise. She told the gang about it, and they said it might be a puppy. Charlotte thought the name should be Duz because she was going to be a dozen years old. When she went home, she got to pick where to go to dinner. During dinner, her parents were wondering if they should tell Charlotte and Nat the surprise.

Finally, they said the surprise was they were going to New Zealand. Charlotte and Nat said they would stay home with grama to keep her company. But she was going to Florida. They said they would rather go to Florida but they weren't aloud.

Charlotte told the gang the news. They said they would miss her. They told Charlotte to write to them when she got there to tell them how it was. She said she didn't want to go to New Zealand. She wanted to stay in Boston with her friends because she didn't have friends in New Zealand.

Finally, they day came when her family flew to New Zealand. On the plane, Charlotte and her mother stared out the window while Nat and her dad played on their laptops. When they got there, they met the guy her father was there to see.

When they got to the house they were supposed to stay in, Charlotte went straight to her room. The next day they went to school. As Charlotte walked in her classroom, a girl named Ngaire asked Charlotte to sit by her. Later, at recess, the teacher said to get out their snacks and go outside, but Charlotte did not have a snack so Ngaire shared hers. Charlotte learned that they called cookies "biscuits." When they went in, the teacher said to get out their togs. Charlotte did not know what they were so the teacher said swimsuit. They were going to have their swimming lessons. Charlotte did not want to have them.

The teacher said for her to remember for tomorrow. Charlotte was trying to get out of taking lessons because she couldn't swim.

When she got home and went in her room, she saw her dad hooking up a computer. He said he even got her an e-mail set up. She said for him to please get out of her room.

The next day at school, she took her togs (swimsuit) so she could go to lessons. But all the other girls had plain blue swimsuits and hers was striped.

That day when she went home, her brother and his friends were there. His friend Yo showed her how to use her computer. She told him thank you a few times. They set up a day he could come surf the Web with her.

About a week later, Charlotte and her family had to go on a business picnic. she saw one person she knew, and that was Yo.

Charlotte went home to check her e-mail. She got one from the gang, it said they were waiting for the letter. They also said they got a new teacher named Mrs. Hobbs who was great with computers. Charlotte e-mailed them back and said she was having a great time in New Zealand.

Charlotte and her family had another few months and then finally they went home.
