Discipline PolicyInvest in life’s greatest treasure, our children.
Dear
Parents, I
am pleased to have your child in my class.
With your encouragement, your son/daughter will be a part of many
exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year. There
are a few rules of conduct which, if we all work together to maintain them, will
make the year more comfortable, successful, and enjoyable for all.
Most of these rules involve ordinary courtesy and respect for the rights
of others. The plan below not only
provides a more effective learning climate but also develops positive habits
such as responsibility and independence. Expectations:
1.
Follow
directions. 2.
Keep
hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 3.
No
profanity, teasing, or name-calling. 4.
Stay in
seat unless you have permission to get up. 5.
Walk,
don’t run in the classroom. To encourage students to follow these classroom rules, I will recognize appropriate behavior with praise, emails, notes, and stickers. Occasionally students have problems in class. I will take the following steps in responding to misconduct: 1. Verbal warning 2. 10 minute time out 3. Lose free time. Complete a "Think Sheet." 4. Call parent
5.
Send to
principal If the misconduct is severe enough, these actions may be accelerated without following the preceding steps. Be
assured that my goal is to work with you to ensure the success of your child
this year. Your child deserves the
most positive educational climate possible for his/her growth, and I know that
together we will make a difference in this process. Please read this classroom discipline plan with your child,
then sign and return the form below. Thank
you for your time and cooperation. Yours
for a great school year, Robert Ferguson, Ed.D.
