I
have been skiing since I was born, and I'm a former competitor in
biathlon. Over the years, I found the training, traveling and the
competitions "too serious", and nowadays, I'm not
very into competitions. I just like to be out in the mountains and
in the forest with snowboard and skies, whether it goes up or down. |

Ålesund
is a great place to live if you like riding steep mountain hills and
couloirs with abundance of powder. The mountains here, known as
"The Sunnmøre Alps", has numberless opportunities, and if
you are too tired for a hike up on the alpine peaks one day, Stranda
ski resort offers a wonderland for backcountry skiing and
snowboarding, with 800 meters vertical drop, powder for everyone and
breathtaking views.
The
Sunnmøre alps reach up to 1600 meters straight up from the sea
level, and you can easily spend a whole life just here, to learn the
area to know. For those of you who want to read more about this, Iriss
publishing firm has some great books about the region. The can
probably give you some information in English too.
There are many
other great skiing regions in Norway. Both Hurrungane,
Romsdalen, Trollheimen, Lofoten and Lyngen offer world-class
conditions, and I really want to visit these places more than I have
been doing so far. |
