On The Road Again: Antique Truck Shows

Part of the fun of collecting and restoring old trucks is sharing "war" stories with fellow collectors at antique truck shows I frequently attend. Below are photos from some recent shows:

HEBRON, OHIO May, 2001

This twin-screw B-61 is now a dump truck. I found it in West Virgina, where it had spent its life as a cement mixer.

This 1958 B-Model was owned by Matlack Bulk Transportation for many years. Now it is the crown jewel of my collection.

This R-Model (far left) was the first new truck purchased in 1970 by R.M. Neff, a mail carrier in Zanesville, Ohio. It was restored to new condition by his grandsons, and we now show it off at truck shows around the country. This photo, as well as the two B-Model shots above, were taken during a recent show by the Buckeye Vintage Haulers in Hebron, Ohio, of which I am a member. For a complete look at the show, visit www.antiquetrucks.com

FAIRBORN, OHIO May, 2001

During the recent Fairborn, Ohio show, a slow race was won by the Dodge Power Wagon (on right). Even an R-Model Mack with a quad box could not go slow enough to beat the Power Wagon!

Trucks from Buckeye Vintage Haulers and the Cincinnati chapter at the Fairborn show.

Here is a real rarity. This Mack Truck is a Model B-405 firetruck. 50 were ordered by the government in 1958. They were built by Mack with a Chrysler hemi engine, Dodge wheels and a 5-speed transmission. Several were left over and sold to fire departments. This particular truck came from New York.

This is the Autocar tractor and show trailer full of memorabilia collected Mr. Schroyer of Celina, Ohio.
