I am a professional Stage Manager based in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. I am a member in good standing of Actor's Equity Association and the Stage Manager's Association.
I have worked at The Phoenix Theatre here in Indianapolis as Production Stage Manager for almost 3 years now. The Phoenix Theatre operates under a Small Professional Theatre contract with Actor's Equity Association. Last fall, the cast & crew of Angels In America raised $2,792 to help support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and $3,051 for a local organization, The Damien Center. All that money was raised through direct audience appeals following our performances.
I would love to talk with other Stage Managers or theatre technicians, so drop me a line! I'd also love to hear any theatre jokes or funny stories you'd like to share. Watch this page because I'll be posting some more theatre jokes as I find them.
Be sure to read the stage management handbook while you're there!
Outside of theatre, my interests include, playing with my dog, spending time with my husband and son, researching about childbirth and breastfeeding, visiting with family (especially my nieces & nephews), going to movies, reading Anne Rice novels, watching Days Of Our Lives, Will & Grace, Providence and ER, sign language, learning html and spending too much time surfing the web. One of my long-term goals is to be certified as a Doula and Childbirth Educator or a Lactation Consultant.
I am certified by the Red Cross in Community First Aid and Adult, Infant and Child CPR. If you're not certified yet, call your local Red Cross for details on registering for a class. Being prepared to help save a life is one of the most important things that each of us can do to make a difference in our communities. As a stage manager, I find that my first aid training is very valuable! I was injured at work myself about a year ago and was able to use my own training to tell someone else what to do to help me.
