The Utility (Non-Sporting) Group
This cosmopolitan bunch seems to include all the breeds that did not fit comfortably into any of the other groups. A more acceptable name might be the "Companion Group". In The Utility group you will find the bulldog, Dalmatian, the poodles, the japanese akita (Working), the Schnauzer,
the chow chow and the shih Tzu (Toy).
As a generalization, the term "companion" does indeed cover them all, but there are varying degrees of companionability, and these are discussed under the individual breeds.
