It was only days since Spirit had received the gift from the stranger. Out in the emerald feilds, she lived on the banks of the Crystal River, ever watchful of the egg. Always residing overhead was the Dragon, that pattern in the stars she had seen every day for... She didn't even know how long. Sitting by the clear waters, she layed her hand on the soft blue egg. When she lifted it, a small crack streaked across the surface. Her heart raced-- She knew it was hatching. Bit by bit, it cracked, until a small gray nose poked out. The shaman helped peel away the shell, and with a sudden burst of strength, the hatchling rolled out onto her lap.
It chirped, and she stroked it's stormy gray scales. She knew her gods would want her to come, but before she could even think of getting up, sleep overtook her. The last thing she saw was two tiny noses coming out the the black and white eggs.
*** When she awoke, she was, once again, before the Council of the Gods. The shining silver goddess held the hatchling in her arms. "Hello, SpiritStar." Spirit nodded, standing up. "Your dragon has hatched, the plot moves on. This is Medianoche." The Shaman recognized her language's word for "Midnight." "Care for him well, Spirit. Now he depends on you for life. Take care of him." 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Statistics SilverValley |
