Looking For Squad

Teamwork within an Outfit Squad or a Squad full of random players can be a rewarding aspect of PlanetSide, often both fun and effective when working well together.

To help Squad Leaders advertise and manage the roles of their squad and to help the Solo Soldier find active squads looking for their skill set, the PlanetSide team upgraded the Looking for Squad system. Through the Organisational Info window (Shift+o), soldiers will be able to use the enhanced system to find or manage squads with greater ease.

Find Squad
The Find Squad tab of the Organisational Info window allows soldiers to find a squad to join, which can be based on specific requirements. If the solider is actively seeking a squad, the LFS option of the bottom of this window should be selected.

Role
This field allows the soldier to describe a preferred role.

Location
This drop down menu allows the solider to set the search to pull up squads based on the location the squad is task to deploy.

Certificates Criteria
This area allows soldiers to specify the certificate parameters for their search.

  • Allow position matching my certificates - use this to search for positions that specify at least one certification which you possess.
  • Any available position - use this to search for any available position for which you qualify.
  • Any of the certifications specified below - use this to search for a position that requires any of the certifications that you specify.

By highlighting a squad, soldiers can click on the Details button to view the squad descriptions, a list of who is in the squad, the individual role descriptions for available slots and the certification requirements for those slots (if any). To return to the search results from the Details screen, the Back to Squad List can be used.

Join
This button allows the solider to join the selected squad. If the Squad Leader option to auto join has been set by the Squad Leader, the soldier will be permitted to automatically join the squad. If the auto join option is not set, the Squad Leader will receive the request to join and can use the Manage Squad tab to assign the soldier you to a position.

Request
If the squad leader does not have the auto join option set for the squad, the soldier will need to use the Request button to place a request to join the squad.

Manage Squad
The Manage tab of the Organisational Info window allows squad leaders to manage various settings of their squad and search for new members. The Squad Leader can also use this tab to edit role positions and assign squad members to specific roles by using a list of squad members as well as open positions.
