After their marriage, Joe and Elizabeth farmed in the La Salle, Minnesota area. She also worked for several years at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia. Elizabeth remained living on the farm after Joe died. In the fall of 1998 she moved into Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia, and the Catholic women's group. She was also a member of the German Singers of Lake Crystal. She enjoyed collecting recipes, craftwork and gardening.
