Adverb-a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb

If you want to add an adverb to your sentences, there are a few questions you can ask

Where?        When?
                 How?            How often?
                     To what extent?

Here is a list of words that are often used as adverbs:
Where?                 how         there        away         up
When?                 now         then          later          soon
How?                   clearly     easily       quietly       slowly
How often?           never       always     often         seldom
To what extent?   very         too           almost       so          really

The word not is used as an adverb to modify a verb.
(nt is a contraction-not an adverb)

*Many adverbs end in ly

Examples:
We often complain about the cooking.
            (adverb comes before the verb)
We complain
often about the cooking.
            (adverb comes after the verb)
Linda did
not know the answer to the riddle.
(adverb comes in the middle of the phrase)
Suddenly the door opened.
            (beginning the sentence for emphasis)
