Kingdom Assignment...

Last year our pastor introduced a program he called "Kingdom Assignment", the purpose of this program is for members of our church to take $20 that the church will provide and do something positive with it in our community. The rules are that you cannot put the money back in the offering plate, it must be used in our local community, and you must leave a connection card that tells a little about our church. It's kind of like "Random Acts of Kindness", but more intentional. Participants should think about what they want to do and then use the opportunity created to inform them about our church.

Some of the things participants did last year was:
  • Baked cookies for local school teachers
  • Bought Ice Cream treats for kids getting off school bus
  • Took treats to a local daycare
  • Built a ramp for a handicapped family
  • Bought roses for local nurses
  • That being said, this year when the church again started passing out envelopes, my family decided to participate. What we did is use the seed money to purchase drawings and parts for the cars & trucks shown below. We then donated the completed vehicles to a local daycare center.

If you would like to get the plans or parts, you can find them here on Meisel Hardware's website.

They turned out so well, I'm considering making several of them each year around Christmas to donate to charity.
