Key Rack
This was my very first project... OK, not the very first. I did some stuff as a kid. Not very impressive (just a 1x4 and some hooks), but it does get the job done.

I found a plan for this in a magazine article in about 1998. I don't remember where, it might even have been on the web, but is still stands in our front room today. It took me forever to find hooks that I liked though, so it sat in our living room for 3-4 months as just a pole, which is where it got the nickname "the pole".

Country Clock
This is a pretty close replicate of a clock hanging in my mother-in-law's kitchen. I got bored one day when we were visiting, so I made a clock. Makes sense right? Good thing my father-in-law has his own supply of tools, and wood.

Ever said this one? "I can't believe they want that much for that, I could make it for half that." I did, and that's how we ended up with a window shaped mirror. I don't know if I did it cheaper than the one at the super mega discount center which shall remain nameless, but it is definitely better quality. The candle sconces are my own design, I made those for Christmas this year (2001). I cut a mortise in the back to hold the mirror, then cut the heart out, and used a roundover bit on the inside edges, and a shallow cove on the outside edges.
Country Decorations

I made this for my wife for Christmas last year (2000). I saw one in a catalog somewhere, so I made one. It was very popular, this year my mother-in-law got one.

Plant Stand
This is my own design, it was also a gift for my wife. There is a ceramic tile that sits in the top, that way when the decor changes, it doesn't look out of place. This piece is a "departure" for me, I used red oak whereas most of my stuff is pine. That'll change when I get a planer!

We got the plans out of one of those home magazines. It has found a home on the nightstand next to our spare bed.
