Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton is another good Dinosaur book, that also includes humans. Scientists hired by John Hammond (a millionare) have genetically engineered dinosaurs from DNA extracted from mosquitos fossilized in amber (tree sap). Hammond then builds a park to show off his dinosaurs, but needs approval from paleontologist Alan Grant and some other scientists. Soon after the scientists arrive to the island, the dinosaurs escape and cause chaos, trying to eat John Hammond's tourists. The Novel has a lot of stuff in it, that wasn't in the movie, including different dinosaurs, human characters and personalities (especially Hammond)and a lot of swearing and violence. Though dated, the novel is still a great read.

The Lost World by Michael Crichton is very similar to Jurassic Park, but there is a lot more dinosaur action, which is good, but the story is very simple: 6 years after the JP incident a palaeontologist named Richard Levine has discovered that Ingen had a second island (site B: Isla Sorna) where the dinosaurs were originally bred before being taken to the JP island (Isla Nublar) and has found that the dinosaurs are still alive after finding dinosaurs carcasses washed on to the mainland in Costa Rica. Now Biosyn, Ingens competitor, the ones that hired Nedry, are after the dinosaurs eggs on the second island, so they can breed there own fortune. This book is just as good as Jurassic Park but seems a lot similar to the original, even having two kids on the island to get into mischeif but is still a great book.
The Science of Jurassic Park & The Lost World is a really indepth book, that explains the different scientific mistakes in JP and TLW. One of the most interesting parts of the book is the explanation of how a dinosaur could really be genetically engineered.

Raptor Red by Robert Bakker, the famous paleontologist, is one of the best dinosaur novels around. It is based on a female Utahraptor's life. There are many interesting ideas in this book that include how the animals interact and communicate with each other, how they hunt, how they survive disease and predators...etc. It also includes the point of view of several other prehistoric creatures like an Acrocanthosaurus.
Walking With Dinosaurs was a great documentry, and the book is also great, it contains basically a written version of the documentry but there are pictures and scenes in the book, that did not appear in the documentry. The book contains a lot of information on each time period being described, including what the earth looked like, what the botany was like and what kinds of new creatures have appeared. You should get this book just for the great pictures in it, but also read it.
The Scientific American Book of Dinosaurs: Edited by Gregory S. Paul This book is a dinosaur lovers dream, it contains chapters on just about everything you would want to know about dinosaurs going from how a dinosaur is named to the history of dinosaur art and tips on how to draw dinosaurs from the best of the best. The book also contains great sketches and color paintings of dinosaurs by many different artists and many skeleton restorations. If you ever get a book about dinosaurs, pick this one up!
The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was surprisingly a good book even though it was written almost 100 years ago. Basically, A professor that claims to have found a plateau filled with prehistoric creatures in the Amazon. He attempts to prove himself to the world by mounting an expedition back to the plateau and once there the humans encounter various creatures, but sadly not many dinosaurs. The main prehistoric creatures featured in the novel include Allosaurs, Iguanodons, Stegosaurs, Plesiosaurs and Pterodactyls. This book is not for one who likes scientific acurracy, the dinosaurs are portrayed as huge bags of scaly skin, but all in all it's worth reading.
Dinosaur Summer by Greg Bear is an interesting novel, but the only problem is that some of of the dinosaurs in the novel are ficticous. The book takes place after the discovery of the lost world island and is based on a boy and his father returning dinosaurs from a zoo back to the island they came from. It's an okay novel but is no "Jurassic Park".
