Photography is a suprisingly varied medium of art and design. A wide variety of subjects and styles are available for the photographer to use. When you hear the word portrait, we often think of a human subject. However, a portrait does not necessarily focus on a human, but any living subject.
Photography offers us the chance to capture the beauty of nature. Distant lands come to life in landscape photography. Even the simple backgrounds of our daily environment can become the subject of landscape photography.
The greatest gift of photography is the ability to catch a single moment in time. A fleeting sliver of life, preserved. Many photographers pride themselves on the ability to take "real" photographs. Pictures not staged or prepared for, but natural moments caught in the lens of the camera.
