On this page you'll find a sample of the logo design process that I did. It includes some of the design behind the logo. As well as some examples of its uses.
Logo design is considered one of the most essential and challenging forms of design. A logo is the entire identity of a company or brand summed up in a single design. It can be the critical element that decides whether a business is successful or not. The use of runes in design can create an exotic or foreign feeeling. In reality, it is no different than using a foreign alphabet. After all, that is what runes are. They are the alphabet of many European cultures prior to the adoption of the Latin Alphabet we now use today. My logo combines the runic letters D, M, and R, my initials, to create the logo image.
A logo is the symbolic representation of a company. Its usage can affect the brand identity. This is most notable in the it's use on a business card. Often, a single side of a business card is reserved exlusively for the company's logo. On my card, an enhanced version of the logo imagery is used on a single side to serve as a hook to draw viewer attention.
A leave-behind piece is intended to be given to inveterviewers as an additional example of design work. I chose to design and created a sticker sheet of the runic alphabet that I used in my logo design. This way I could give others the opportunity to experience part of the design process I used in creating my own logo, while also promoting fun and creativity. This piece is a sample of the back of the leave-behind piece. It includes some brief information on the runic alphabet used, as well as an additional set of stickers.
A letterhead is another piece that commonly uses a company's logo. For my letterhead design I went with something very simple. Letterheads are not usually meant to be flashy or eye catching. They are for business and communication. This simple design not only fits the role of the letterhead, but I feel also matches the design of my logo.
