Goal Statement:
The purpose of this
teaching portfolio is to demonstrate my understandings and abilities related to
each of the four performance domains of the K-12 World
Languages Teacher Education Performance Framework.
Domain B: The Act of
Teaching
B1.
Teacher candidates will demonstrate competency in engaging all learners in
target language communication and cultural understanding using language
acquisition teaching strategies, including applications of multi-media
technologies.
Evidence:
An overhead prepared for a
lesson shows that I have attempted to engage all learners through using
what technology was available, by giving them a visual representation of
the material. While they were able to see the overhead, I also
spoke to the students about these expressions and asked them to write
the expressions down. This allowed students to learn the material
through visualization, hearing the material, and writing the expressions
as well.
B2.
Teacher candidates will demonstrate competence in the assessment of student
learning.
Evidence:
Inquiry 3 shows how I have reflected
on the effectiveness of one of my implemented lessons and shows how I
have assessed the student learning as a result of that lesson.
B3.
Teacher candidates will manage typical classroom procedures.
B4.
Teacher candidates will manage student learning and behavior.
Evidence:
Inquiry 2 includes my philosophy of
classroom management and is a reflection of the methods I used to manage
the learning and behavior of my students.
Evidence:
An
evaluation done by my
supervisor teacher after observing one of my
implemented lessons.
B5.
Teacher candidates will communicate effectively using verbal, nonverbal, and
media communication techniques.
Evidence:
An evaluation done by my mentor teacher demonstrates that I have
effectively used verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques.
